NYRIM®
NYRIM® is an elastomer-modified AP-Nylon® produced by Reaction Injection Molding (RIM), rotational molding but also by vacuum infusion of fiber and reactive extrusion.
The stiffness / toughness balance of the elastomeric-modified polyamide 6 block copolymer offers outstanding impact strength, excellent wear resistance and repetitive load (fatigue) endurance at extreme temperatures while combining manufacturing flexibility!
NYRIM® can be successfully used in a wide range of applications:
- Transportation (e.g. rollers, logistic containers, elevator buckets)
- Heavy duty equipment (e.g. fuel tanks, agro crusher, track pad)
- Construction (e.g. dowels. gutter grate, utility service cover)
- Alpine (e.g. wheel guiding and wheels for snow groomers)
- General (e.g. dentist chair, emergency pole)
NYRIM® contains usually 10 (NYRIM® 1000) to 40 % (NYRIM® 4000) in polymerized elastomer, depending of the specific requirements on properties of the finished part. It can also be selectively reinforced with glass fibers resp. glass mats or filled with minerals.
AP-Nylon®'s high cristallinity of up to 55 % yields much improved tensile strength and modulus of elasticity properties as shown below:

NYRIM®
is an improved cast nylon which offers the largest array of sizes and custom shapes of any thermoplastic. Thanks to its high molecular weight and crystallinity, NYRIM® offers such properties as:
- High fatigue resistance
- High modulus
- Low stress
- Non galling
- Abrasion resistance
- Low coefficient of friction
- Vibration and peening resistance
- Good dimensional stability...
