Pharmaceutical Industry

For the pharmaceutical industry ethanol is an integral part for many recipes - be it for the production of medicines and homeopathic products or the production of disinfectants.

Ethanol is also used for the extraction of plant ingredients. At the same time ethanol is a natural preservative. With the addition of ethanol in pharmaceuticals, artificial preservatives can often be waived. How does this work? Ethanol inactivates enzymes! This has a beneficial effect on the modification and decomposition reactions in the cells and thus supports the pharmaceutical's effect.

In the field of medicine and care pure ethanol already has played an important role for centuries, especially regarding skin and wound disinfection.

In our laboratories high-capacity equipment - modern and state of the art - is available for the analyses. Our high quality alcohol PharMetol meets the requirements of the European Pharmacopeia (Ph. Eur.) according to the latest standard.

We supply PharMetol to our customers in tank trucks, in 1000 liter con-tainers and 200 liter drums, either pure or denatured.

Cosmetics Industry

The cosmetics industry needs ethanol for the production of personal care products and perfumes. Ethanol is also used as a solvent for oils, greases and as a natural preservative in hair products (e.g. colorants) - mostly in a denatured form.

Furthermore, ethanol is the ideal agent as a vehicle for scents. The different components in perfumes, deodorants etc. can be dissolved excellently in ethanol. Depending on the field of application the respective denaturants are added to the ethanol products.

Regarding ethanol for pharmaceutics and cosmetics quality requirements, that are not measurable in the laboratory, are often imposed. In contrast to distillates from agricultural raw materials which still show the sensory characteristics of these, ethanol for the cosmetics industry has to be unscented.

Permanent organoleptic analyses by especially trained employees complete the laboratory examination.

A new trend:
More and more frequently the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry require Organic Ethanol (BioPremium). This ethanol originates from vegetable and renewable raw materials which are produced without chemical or synthetic pesticides and fertilizers (according to the EC eco-regulation).
